About Event

Join us for PlatforMa and Lendbuzz meetup - an evening of a deep dive into the world of Internal Developer Platforms.

As engineering organizations scale, so do the complexities of managing services, infrastructure, and developer workflows. In this meetup, we’ll explore how platform engineering and tools like Backstage, Kubernetes and Crossplane enable teams to handle growth, empower developers, and maintain efficiency without overwhelming operations.

Ami Oren (Lendbuzz) will share their ongoing journey from 5 to 150 microservices and how Backstage helps streamline standards, approvals, and environments. Scott Rosenberg (TeraSky) will dive into extending Backstage beyond the cloud - integrating with Terraform, Crossplane, VCF, and even AI to create a true universal platform hub. Ben Malka (monday.com) will show how internal tools can deliver true developer self-service at scale, from idea to production-ready microservice in record time.

This meetup is for platform engineers, DevOps, and developers interested in how IDPs are built, used, and scaled to support growing organizations.

Please note that entry to the building requires a valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport)

// 5 to 150 microservices with Backstage & Kubernetes - Ami Oren, Director of Infrastructure at Lendbuzz

As SaaS companies scale beyond 100 engineers or 20 microservices, growing pains are inevitable. This talk will detail Lendbuzz's journey, from 5 to 40 microservices, highlighting the challenges our cloud and platform engineering teams have encountered. We'll also address the ongoing challenges as we strive to reach 150 microservices.

We will discuss how Backstage can be a helpful tool when:

  • Establishing and enforcing microservice coding standards.

  • Creating self-service to reduce the load off engineering teams

  • Creating approval workflows across engineering

  • Effectively managing many environments.

We will also briefly discuss our journey to Kubernetes and why we believe it complements Backstage effectively.

The talk will be delivered in Hebrew.

About the speaker:
Ami Oren is the Director of Infrastructure at Lendbuzz - an AI Fintech American-based company, with over 120 engineers and an R&D center in TLV.
Ami is a platform engineering, Kubernetes, GitOps and open source enthusiast.
Loves innovation and to push the engineers around him to meet high engineering standards & best practices.

// Backstage Without Borders: From Crossplane to Terraform, VCF, and AI - Scott Rosenberg, Lead Architect, CTO Office at TeraSky

Developer platforms shouldn’t force teams into a single way of working—they should meet them where they are. In this talk, we’ll explore how Backstage can evolve from a service catalog into a universal platform hub, integrating not just with Crossplane but also Terraform, KRO, and other orchestration frameworks to give teams flexibility in how they provision and manage infrastructure.

We’ll show how custom Backstage plugins extend beyond the cloud to on-prem environments with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Automation and Operations, bridging the gap between traditional datacenters and modern developer self-service. We’ll also dive into how ScaleOps can help optimize infrastructure resources in real time, ensuring efficiency and cost savings.

Finally, we’ll add an AI twist—demonstrating how AI integrations inside Backstage can guide developers to golden paths, help generate infrastructure manifests, and surface insights from complex environments.

By the end, you’ll see how Backstage becomes the connective tissue for your platform strategy, providing developers with a single pane of glass to access, provision, and optimize resources—whether they’re powered by Crossplane, Terraform, KRO, on-prem VCF automation, or AI-driven recommendations.

The talk will be delivered in English.

About the speaker:
10+ Years of experience in the worlds and Cloud and Automation. Currently Scott is the lead architect in the CTO office at TeraSky and leads the platform engineering and cloud native initiatives. Scott has vast experience with both the legacy data center & cutting edge Public Cloud & cloud native technologies - specializing in bridging the gap for customers, and is active in the K8s ecosystem.

// A True Self-Service at Scale - Ben Malka, Tech Lead at monday.com

As R&D teams scale rapidly, infrastructure teams can’t always keep pace. The result is familiar: bottlenecks, inconsistent standards, and growing friction between developers and infra. In this talk, I’ll share how we tackled this challenge by building an internal developer platform (IDP) ecosystem designed for true self-service at scale.

I’ll walk through the full journey of an idea becoming a production-ready microservice, with its own database, cloud resources, metrics, and alerts, without waiting in line for infra support. Along the way, I’ll show how we use soft guardrails to enforce standards, prevent infrastructure from becoming a blocker, and speed up the self-service growth by encouraging developers to extend the platform with their own capabilities.

This is a story about solving scale through platformization. Giving engineers speed and autonomy, while keeping operations efficient and reliable.

The talk will be delivered in Hebrew.

About the speaker:
Ben Malka is a Tech Lead at monday.com, driving the development of DevEx tools with a strong focus on infrastructure and Cloud. He leads initiatives that empower DevOps and software engineers through scalable platform solutions, and is a passionate advocate for Platform Engineering
