Unity CLI Live Demo + Industry Discussion

See the technology. Then let’s talk about what it changes.

AI is beginning to change not only what we can build, but how games get built.

Join us at TechLab Innovation Center in Santa Clara for an evening exploring that shift from both sides: what’s possible now and what it could mean for the future of game studios.

🎮 Unity CLI Live Demo

We’ll start with a live demo from Unity featuring the Unity CLI and emerging workflows for interacting with the Unity engine.

Rather than talking about AI in the abstract, we’ll start by seeing the technology in action.

Demo by:

Esteban Enrique Maldonado Cabán — Sr. Developer Advocate, Unity Technologies
Esteban is a software engineer and game developer with experience spanning engine tooling, multiplayer systems, and developer education at Unity. He now incorporates agentic workflows into his own work, using them to explore complex technologies and turn that learning into demos, technical content, and tools for the developer community.

Break

After a quick break we’ll come back together and ask the bigger question:

What happens if this becomes normal?

💬 Industry Discussion: AI & the Future of Game Studios

The second half of the evening moves beyond the demo to explore what AI and agentic development could mean across the industry.

How might this change the way studios are structured? What happens to development timelines, team composition, budgets, QA, production, publishing, and funding? If building becomes faster or less expensive, where do the bottlenecks move?

And perhaps most importantly: what becomes more valuable when the way we build games changes?

Moderator

Alejandro Sandoval — Founder, RODO
Alejandro founded RODO to build stronger connections across the independent games ecosystem. His work focuses on bringing together developers, studios, investors, publishers, and industry partners while creating spaces where those groups can learn from one another.

Panelists

Rhea Lynn Mascarinas — Founder & Lead Researcher, QuietConversion | Chief of Staff, RODO
Rhea Lynn studies how emerging technologies reshape commercialization, investment, and company-building. Their current research explores how AI could reshape game studios—from team structure and production economics to commercialization, funding, and where value moves next.

Esteban Enrique Maldonado Cabán — Sr. Developer Advocate, Unity Technologies
Esteban brings the perspective of a software engineer and game developer working directly with the developer community as new technologies enter real-world workflows. His perspective focuses on what AI-assisted development looks like in practice—where it helps, where it creates new challenges, and what developers actually need from these tools.

Phil Stafford — Co-Founder & CTO, Veraidyn, PBC
Phil is a cybersecurity expert and AI safety strategist working at the shifting boundary between human intention and machine autonomy. With over 20 years of experience across IT, cybersecurity, and AI, his work blends offensive security, infrastructure defense, and emerging policy, driven by a central question: how do we build intelligent systems that extend our humanity rather than replace it?

🎤 Help Shape the Conversation

We don’t want to decide all the questions ourselves.

Leading up to the event, we’ll be asking the game development community what you want to know about AI, agentic workflows, and the future of game development.

We’ll bring selected community questions into the live discussion.

Have a question you want us to tackle? Send it our way.
