Guest Creatives: A Monthly Series

​This is the very first Guest Creative appearance at The Hummingbird Nest. Sessions will be a regular, once-a-month offering in The Creativity Studio inside The Hummingbird Nest membership, launching soon.

​These sessions are for making. For the woman who is craving creativity, forgot she was creative at all, or simply wants to bring a little joy to her day.

​This first session is a gift to everyone.

​We'll start with a short arrival practice to help you settle in. Then I'll share a little about the symbolism of the hummingbird. With Chris Vabre, Octopus Connection, as our guide, we'll paint the bird that gives this place its name.

​What to bring:
1. Watercolor paints. Chris will be using mostly pink and aqua, with some brown or gray as well.

​2. Watercolor paper. Chris will be using her 5 x 7 sketchbook. This is completely optional. Very small sizes might be hard for beginners. Preferably 140 pound/300 g.

​3. A medium round watercolor brush. This usually equates to about three-quarter-inch bristles.

​4. Pencil eraser for sketching. A polymer eraser or kneaded eraser (best as it doesn’t leave marks on the paper)

​5. One or two cups or jars for water rinsing.

​6. Paper towels or rags to wipe the brush with.
