About Event

The Stanford Sustainability Accelerator, the Center for Sustainability Data Science, and the Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence invite you to join our Data Science for Sustainability series. This session is a Lunch & Learn on Computer Vision for Sustainability.

This session will cover:

  • Core computer vision methods and emerging approaches (e.g., image segmentation, object detection, foundation models)

  • Applications across climate adaptation, energy systems, agriculture, urban resilience, conservation, and more

  • Opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration

Why this matters: Many sustainability challenges depend on extracting insights from visual data at scale—from monitoring ecosystem change to assessing climate risk. This session will explore how advances in computer vision are expanding what we can measure, validate, and act on, and may offer relevant tools and collaborations for your own research.
