About Event

Private Equity Laid Bare comes to Singapore. Join us for an evening with Prof Ludovic Phalippou and uncover private markets in the AI era.

The LSE Alumni Association of Singapore and EDHEC Alumni Singapore co-host an evening with Prof Ludovic Phalippou (Oxford, Saïd), the author of Private Equity Laid Bare and the 2026 winner of the CFA Institute Research Foundation's James R. Vertin Award.

Dive into the fascinating world of AI and its impact on private markets, from what it really changes for investors to what still hides in the footnotes. Prof Phalippou then joins Tim Whittaker of the EDHEC Infrastructure & Private Assets Research Institute (EIPA) for a panel discussion, moderated by Leow Li-Vern of Seviora Capital, turning to some thought-provoking inconvenient facts that challenge conventional wisdom. The evening closes with Q&A and networking over canapés and drinks.

Speakers:

Prof Ludovic Phalippou
Professor of Financial Economics at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and the 2026 winner of the James R. Vertin Award, which honours a body of research notable for its relevance and value to investment professionals.
His research on the structure, performance and transparency of private equity has been cited more than 5,000 times, and Institutional Investor has called him "the bête noire of private equity". He is the author of Private Equity Laid Bare and hosts a podcast of the same name. His new book, The Science of Valuation in Private Markets, looks at how to think about price when you buy to sell. Over two decades he has advised institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds and government bodies, and has given expert testimony to UK and French parliamentary committees. His recent work looks at how AI and big data are changing the way investors analyse private markets.

Tim Whittaker
Director of the EDHEC Infrastructure & Private Assets (EIPA) Research Institute.
The institute measures the risk and performance of unlisted infrastructure and other private assets, and its work gave rise to private market indices used by investors and policymakers. His research covers infrastructure investment and the valuation of private assets.

Leow Li-Vern
Managing Director, Investments, Seviora Capital.
She oversees investment strategy as well as fund and direct co-investment activities at Seviora, a wholly owned subsidiary of Temasek. Prior to joining Seviora, Li-Vern spent over 11 years at Temasek, and her last role was as a Director in the Portfolio Strategy and Risk group.
