UNIDROIT DARTE Session (Online)
The upcoming Digital Assets Round Table Expert (DARTE) event will take place online on January 26th 2026.
The high-level expert roundtable series is organized by Mariana de la Roche (BlackVogel) and Dr. Nina-Luisa Siedler (siedler legal) with the support of the European Commission, and this special session is held in collaboration with the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT).
This January 26th DARTE Session is dedicated to support the UNIDROIT Secretariat in the implementation of the UNIDROIT Principles on Digital Assets and Private Law (the UNIDROIT DAPL Principles), which were launched in 2023. The UNIDROIT DAPL Principles establish clear rules relating to the private law aspects of digital assets, with a focus on proprietary rights. They address digital assets where they are the object of dispositions and acquisitions, and where interests in those assets are to be asserted against third parties. The UNIDROIT DAPL Principles cover digital assets which are capable of being subject to control and provide guidance on issues related to private international law, control and transfer, custody, secured transactions, procedural law including enforcement, and insolvency.
This DARTE session will address the specific challenges and opportunities in the application of private law legislation to digital assets, with particular attention to the interaction of the UNIDROIT DAPL Principles with national legal systems in common and mixed law jurisdictions. Information on an earlier DARTE Session held at UNIDROIT with a focus on civil law jurisdictions can be found here.
Please note: DARTE sessions are invitation only, high-level events that bring together regulators, policymakers, industry leaders, and legal experts to discuss key digital asset legislative developments. DARTE sessions are generally held in-person. However, a rare exception is being made for the January 26th session to allow wider participation from common law jurisdictions. Interested experts may apply to participate in this special session by submitting a registration at the above link. Only academic experts, industry representatives, or policymakers (whether part of a legislative, executive, or regulatory body) with recognized expertise in compliance or legal frameworks relating to digital assets in a common law jurisdiction will be considered for this special DARTE session.
Approval will be reviewed by the event organizers and confirmations will be sent to selected participants by January 22nd. We kindly ask for your patience and keeping the event timing blocked.
We look forward to your application and to advancing meaningful legal dialogue across jurisdictions.
