Unlock Crypto #2: Digital Assets
Self-Custody, Privacy & Owning Your Keys
Thursday, 20 August · 18:00–21:00 · TUM Main Campus, Arcisstraße 21, Room Z534 (https://nav.tum.de/room/0505.Z1.534Z)
Join the TUM Blockchain Club and Cake Wallet for the second edition of Unlock Crypto, an evening about the single most important skill in digital assets: holding them yourself.
On July 1, the EU's MiCA grace period ended. Of more than 3,000 crypto providers previously registered across Europe, roughly 280 now hold a licence. Binance suspended services for EU users. Stablecoins were delisted. Europe's own markets regulator told affected users to move their assets: to a licensed provider, or to a wallet they control themselves.
That second option is what this evening is about.
What you'll learn
Introduction to Digital Assets — What digital assets are, what a blockchain actually does, what a private key is, and why custody is the question everything else depends on
Digital Assets Update: MiCA Is Live — What changed on July 1, what it means for assets sitting on an exchange, and what's still being decided in Brussels right now
Cake Wallet on self-custody & privacy — Financial privacy in practice, and the tension between privacy and European regulation
Hands-on — Set up your own wallet, run your first transaction, practice seed phrase hygiene, and learn to spot the scams that target newcomers
Food and cold drinks are served throughout the evening, with a networking session to close things out. 🍕
No prior knowledge required. Spots are limited, so grab yours early.
