Interactive Applied AI Workshop: Context Engineering for EdTech Tools
Presented by NYEdTech & Playbook authors Louisa Rosenheck & Agasthya Shenoy
This interactive workshop introduces participants to context engineering, a method of tuning AI systems to be more effective, reliable, and evidence-based. After a brief overview of key ideas from the authors’ Context Engineering Playbook (https://research.nisa.coach/), participants will explore how thoughtfully designed context can align AI tools with best practices in teaching and learning. Through accessible metaphors and real-world examples, presenters will illustrate how different “context engineering plays” show up in edtech products today.
In this participatory, discussion-based session, attendees will surface their own questions, tensions, and curiosities about AI in education, then work in small groups to identify and analyze examples of context engineering in tools they either build or use. Together, we’ll reflect on what makes AI tools effective and aligned with our values as educators. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of context engineering and practical insights they can apply to design or evaluate AI edtech tools.
