OpenAI Build Week Community Event - Ho Chi Minh City & Hanoi
Saturday, July 18
Let's do something different: for one day, we build only Open Source! And Codexmaxxing with GPT-5.6-Sol! Builders from 2 cities will connect via video call!
Ho Chi Minh City
Grab Vietnam Office, 15th Floor, Mapletree Business Centre, 1060 Nguyen Van Linh, Tan Hung
Google Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/VoUdok8DKtgFuYpX8
Come to first floor, some friends from Grab will scan your Luma's QR ticket and help you to access 15th floor.
Ha Noi
National Startup Support Center, 5th floor, 25 Le Thanh Ton, Cua Nam
Google Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/7fkAUwypGw5zGCpn6
Go to 5th floor by yourself.
Notes:
Come before 10am if you can — that's when we can get you settled quickest (help us help you!). Running late is fine, we'll still get you sorted!
Prizes: OpenAI credits ($5,000 | $2,000 | $1,000) for the 3 coolest builders — GOAT, MVP, best contribution, best vibe
Solo or team, all good — collaboration, not competition.
Bring a power strip and your water mug. We've got the pizza 🍕
Small event: 40 builder spots in HCMC, 20 in Ha Noi. Just want to hang? Drop by and enjoy the vibe — we just can't promise visitors a super comfy chair or credits (will try our best though).
Description
You know the Hackathon fatigue — build something source-available for the judges, then drop it by Monday. Not this time.
We build projects that last: apps, tools, frameworks, or libraries the world can actually use, published under GPL, MIT, BSD, or any open source license.
(Open source, not source-available Hackathon fakery 😄)
Build whatever excites you — apps for life, work & productivity, dev tools, education,... Codex is at its best on hard technical problems, which is exactly what good Open Source runs into.
No judges, no stage pitching — just real engineers trying each other's projects and swapping honest feedback, across both cities live over Google Meet.
Then we get you seen.
After the event, we push the best work out: Product Hunt, GitHub stars, a YouTube demo, LinkedIn, X.
You build something genuinely useful; we turn it into real awareness and reputation. Distribution is the hardest problem for founders — this is how we crack it together.
