Big in Japan: learning GameDev in Tokyo
August is not just the period of the year when all Timisoara people seem to have left the city for their holidays, but its also the month when local students are returning back home from their universities abroad. One way or another, it’s the right time to find out how they have progressed, what marvelous experiences they had, and why their younger peers should step on their traces!
When talking about studying programs related to the game industries, probably our fellow Damian Sirbu is doing it the most exotic way, being enrolled at 東京藝術大学, or in a more accessible language, Tokyo University of the Arts.
A graduate of Moisil High School and of West University of Timișoara, an ex-CoderDojo Timișoara and CoderDojo GameDev Timișoara mentor, with a long time cultivated passion for Japanese language and culture, Damian applied, went through a highly competitive process and has been admitted as a Game Research student, focused on animation, and is currently enrolled as a Master's degree student in the first implementation year of a new program on Game and Interactive Art, within the Graduate School of Film and New Media.
DevPlant Cowork and Timișoara Game Developers are inviting all those active or interested in the field of GameDev, Monday, August 31st, starting at 6 PM, to find out from Damian details about studying and exploring creative communities in Japan, about the process of accessing the bursaries offered by the Nippon Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, about how the gamedev industry’s and professions’ present and future look like when seen in the Extreme Orient!
We’ll dedicate a part of the event to all those participating young gamedev participants, who are invited to pitch their gamedev projects and receive feedback from our special guest and from the audience at large.
