Japan-Nigeria Business Forum by FrontierPass は、日本企業にとってのナイジェリアの事業可能性と、現地での最初の一歩を考えるイベントです。
ナイジェリアは、2億人を超える人口と若い労働力、英語圏としての強み、急速に成長するデジタル産業を持つアフリカ最大級の市場です。一方、日本企業にとっては、現地情報へのアクセス、商習慣、信頼できるパートナー探し、人材獲得など、実際に事業を始めるまでのハードルが高い市場でもあります。
しかし現在は、最初から現地法人を設立したり、大規模な投資を行ったりする必要はありません。現地ネットワークやリモート環境を活用することで、日本にいながら市場調査、ユーザーインタビュー、商品・サービスの検証、小規模なPoCから始めることが可能になりつつあります。
今回のイベントでは、アフリカのスタートアップ投資に取り組む UNCOVERED FUND CEO & General Partner 寺久保拓摩氏をお招きし、ナイジェリア市場の可能性、現地で事業を行う難しさ、そして日本企業がアフリカ市場と関わる際に持つべき視点についてお話しいただきます。
また、FrontierPass Founder 中能真之介からは、ナイジェリアでのハッカソン運営、大学・学生コミュニティとの連携を通じて得てきた現地での実践経験を紹介します。
特に焦点を当てるのが「人」です。
ナイジェリアには多くの若いデジタル人材が存在する一方で、企業から見ると「誰が本当に優秀なのか」「誰と安心して仕事ができるのか」「日本企業との仕事をリモートで任せられるのか」を判断することは簡単ではありません。
FrontierPassでは、日本企業がナイジェリアで市場調査や事業検証を行う段階から現地人材をプロジェクトに参加させ、実際の仕事を通じて能力・コミュニケーション・仕事の進め方を確認する仕組みを構築しています。そこで出会った優秀な人材は、ナイジェリア事業の現地チームとしての活用に加え、開発・AI・データ・リサーチなど、日本企業のグローバルなリモートチームへの接続も想定しています。

Nigeria Business Forum by FrontierPass is an event for Japanese companies to explore the business potential of Nigeria and understand how they can take their first practical steps into the market.
With a population of more than 200 million, a young workforce, English as its official language, and a rapidly growing digital economy, Nigeria is one of Africa’s largest and most important markets. At the same time, entering the market remains challenging for Japanese companies due to limited local information, unfamiliar business practices, difficulty finding reliable partners, and challenges around talent.
Today, however, entering Nigeria does not necessarily have to begin with establishing a local entity or making a large investment. Through local networks and remote collaboration, companies can increasingly begin from Japan with market research, user interviews, product validation, and small-scale PoCs before committing to a full market entry.
The event will feature Takuma Terakubo, CEO & General Partner of UNCOVERED FUND, a venture capital firm investing in African startups. He will share insights into the opportunities in Nigeria, the realities and challenges of doing business in the market, and the perspectives Japanese companies should consider when engaging with Africa.
Shinnosuke Nakano, Founder & of FrontierPass, will also share FrontierPass’ experience building local networks through hackathons, universities, and student communities in Nigeria.
A key theme of the event will be people.
Nigeria has a large pool of young digital talent, yet companies still face a difficult question: who can they actually trust and work with?
Identifying people with strong technical ability, reliable communication, and the ability to work effectively with international teams is difficult through CVs alone.
FrontierPass is developing a model in which Nigerian talent participates directly in market research, product validation, development, and other real projects for companies. This allows companies to evaluate talent through actual work, including technical ability, communication, reliability, and execution.
Talented individuals identified through these projects can then continue working on the company’s Nigeria business, or potentially contribute remotely to global teams in areas such as software development, AI, data, and research.
