About Event

How does Bitcoin work without a bank or a central server? And what actually happens when you send a bitcoin transaction?

Join Bitshala for a beginner-friendly workshop exploring how Bitcoin works under the hood. We’ll break down the key ideas in simple language, follow a transaction through the network, and guide you through creating and sending one yourself.

You’ll use Bitcoin’s test network, so you can experiment without using real bitcoin. No prior coding or Bitcoin knowledge required.

AGENDA:

  • Keys, addresses, and ownership: What a Bitcoin wallet does, how addresses work, and how you prove you can spend your bitcoin.

  • How transactions work: How Bitcoin tracks individual pieces of bitcoin rather than a bank-style account balance, and how those pieces get spent and combined.

  • A transaction’s journey: What happens after you hit “send,” how computers on the network check your transaction, and where it waits before being included in a block.

  • Blocks and mining: How transactions are grouped into blocks, what miners do, and how the network agrees on a shared transaction history.

  • Bitcoin’s incentives and supply: Why miners earn rewards and fees, what a “halving” means, and how Bitcoin’s 21 million supply limit works.

  • Hands-on practice: With step-by-step guidance, build, sign, and send a transaction on Bitcoin’s test network.

WHO'S GUIDING

Led by the Bitshala Contributors. We are a community of Bitcoin developers and educators.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Level: Beginner-friendly.

  • Format: An interactive workshop with explanations, room for questions, and a guided transaction exercise.

  • Bring: A laptop and your curiosity.

  • Experience needed: None. You don’t need to know how to code.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

This workshop is for you if you:
