Hygge Sundays: Reading Circle [FREE]
Escape hustle culture. Slow down. Meet someone new.
Hustle culture tells us that rest has to be earned, that busy is a badge of honour, and that slowing down means falling behind. In Singapore, most of us have been running on that mode for so long we've stopped questioning it: optimise, produce, keep moving, repeat.
🌱 These 2-3 hours are meant for you to disengage and relish in the slow activity of reading, the fulfilment of real connection, and the stillness of nature.
No performance, no networking agenda, no phone in hand. Just a shared space where you can slow down, read, and actually connect with the people around you, not through small talk about work, but through simply being present together.
☀️ For one Sunday morning, you can choose to step out of the hustler in you.
What You Can Expect
8:30am-8:45am: Arrive and find your spot on the grass
8:45am-8:50am: A short welcome
8:50am-9:50am: Quiet reading hour (no phones allowed!)
9:50am-11:00am: Connect with the people around you or swap a book
P.S. there's a cap of 29 slots so grab your spot now!
What To Bring
📚 A book you're currently reading
🧺 A mat or small towel to sit on
💧 Water
☀️ Sunscreen
☂️ An umbrella (just in case!)
🦟 Insect repellent
Optional: there'll be a small book swap corner if you'd like to explore other books - so bring along an extra book if you like!
About the organiser
Hygge Sundays: Reading Circle is hosted by The Hygge Club, founded by Jing Min. She started this community because hustle culture has convinced too many people in Singapore that rest has to be earned, and that slowing down is a luxury instead of something you're allowed to just take.
At its core, this is about internal alignment, giving yourself permission to want what you actually want, not what hustle culture told you to chase. This is one small space built to prove that's possible in our mini but busy city, and to let people find their own version of a slow morning, together.
