Oil Painting 2-Day Series - Still Life
Calling all aspiring painters! Welcome to Artskool, a curated oil painting class hosted at the artists residence in the equestrian district of Burbank.
Can't make it? See our schedule for more classes.
🎨 For this 2 day series we'll paint from a live still life, giving you the time to build a rendered, richly detailed painting rather than a quick study.
Each student works from their own individual setup, thoughtfully arranged and lit before class begins. You'll have a mix of subjects — fruit, fabric, and a ceramic or metallic object — so you can explore how light behaves across different textures.
Your instructor will be painting alongside you the entire time, demonstrating technique and color mixing and offering hands-on instruction and individual feedback throughout both days.
This class is designed to help you slow down and paint with intention.
(Day 1 - Sat 12/19) - We'll start sketching our still life and get a first pass of color in.
(Day 2 - Sun 12/20) - More color mixing, refine what we already have and add final details to the painting.
👩🏽🎨 You'll learn the techniques of the Renaissance Masters as we create our very own masterpieces in the style of traditional realism. This is a great way to learn how to use oil paints and can serve as a jumping off point to develop your own unique style.
🖌️ We'll be using a 9x12 canvas and standing easels. All supplies provided.
🖼️ By the end of our time together you'll have a beautiful painting to take home with you!
