About the Event
ETHChiangmai Future Summit 2026 is a one-day gathering focused on bringing cypherpunk values back into real-world Ethereum adoption.
Under the theme “Make Ethereum Cypherpunk Again,” the summit brings together builders, researchers, academics, public-sector collaborators, and community practitioners to examine how privacy, resilience, and local-first coordination can move beyond theory and into practice.
The event is hosted by 4Seas, co-hosted by Chiang Mai University, and joined by members of the Ethereum Foundation and the broader Ethereum ecosystem, with support from local universities, public institutions, and community networks.
Why This Summit
As Ethereum continues to mature, many of its original cypherpunk principles—privacy, credible neutrality, and individual autonomy—face new challenges when applied at real-world scale.
This summit brings together influential voices from the Ethereum Foundation, academia, industry, and local communities for both conceptual debate and practical discussion. We explore how cypherpunk values are interpreted, challenged, and reshaped as systems meet cities, institutions, and everyday use—looking not only at what works in practice, but also at the ideas and tensions behind these outcomes.
This summit focuses on
How local-first collaboration enables practical coordination, shared ownership, and long-term digital resilience at the city and community level
How privacy-preserving technologies can operate reliably in real street-level and city-scale environments
How AI × blockchain systems support trustworthy data flows, provenance, consent, and coordination for public-facing infrastructure
How universities and local institutions evolve from short-term pilots into sustained contributors to digital public goods
How builders and practitioners translate ideas into applied systems, turning research and experimentation into usable public infrastructure
Together, these discussions aim to bridge values, technology, and institutions, exploring how cypherpunk principles can be deployed in ways that are locally grounded, socially embedded, and technically credible.
Who Should Attend
We welcome anyone interested in Ethereum, cypherpunk values, and how privacy, local-first collaboration, and real-world systems come together in practice—across technology, research, institutions, and communities.
