Women Changemakers Gathering in Hong Kong
A safe place for women and non-binary changemakers (and aspiring ones) to meet one another;
A small-scale gathering where you can genuinely connect — and actually spend time working alongside one another;
A community where you don’t just network, but show up as you are and participate equally as an agent of change;
A space to share what you’re working on, exchange ideas, offer support, and spark new collaborations;
A tribe you can return to — to build trust, intergenerational friendships, and a shared sense of momentum.
This is what this gathering is about.
Organized by Carmen Chan of Girls Be Change, together with cohosts Devana Ng of Invisible Company and Cindy Chan of Foodisdom, this early-summer gathering invites women and non-binary changemakers, and those aspiring to be, for an easy hike and trail clean-up in Yuen Tsuen Ancient Trail in Hong Kong.
Inspired by Devana’s journey co-founding Invisible Company after seeing how much trash was left on Hong Kong’s trails, and Cindy’s work through Foodisdom to encourage more mindful daily choices, this event is a chance to reconnect with nature, contribute to the land, and reflect on the impact of small actions.
A gentle outdoor reset for those craving fresh air, community, and meaningful action.

9am: Meet at Tsuen Wan station (Please arrive on time as we will start the hike sharp)
9:15am - 11:30am: Hike & trail cleanup in Yuen Tsuen Ancient Trail
11:30 - 12nn: Trash counting & closing
What is Women Changemakers Community Series?
The idea began in the summer of 2023 when two changemakers in Hong Kong, Carmen Chan (Girls Be Change) and Dorothy Lam (Dream Impact), questioned and envisioned what an ideal community is. We need a safe place among women changemakers to have organic meetups, intentional conversations and idea exchange with social ease, find inspirations and encouragement from each other, and build authentic friendships and support networks.
The first Women Changemakers Community Gathering was held in Hong Kong on March 8, 2024 at International Women’s Day. Ever since then, Girls Be Change partnered with 40+ organizations and gathered 300+ women changemakers in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Denmark, Peru, and the US. With 20+ gatherings around the globe, a vibrant community of global women changemakers was formed and connected virtually to raise questions, exchange ideas, and celebrate wins.

Carmen Chan is a people-driven entrepreneur and founder of Girls Be Change, a social business dedicated to empowering girls and women to become explorers and changemakers. Building on her decade-long experience running ventures like Carmen Chan Jewelry and Studio C, as well as her networks with nonprofits and social enterprises, Carmen founded Girls Be Change to address the pain points faced by underserved women and the challenges of women leaders. Through building communities and sharing expertise among global changemakers, she is on a mission to tackle gender inequality collectively and foster supportive networks of changemakers.

Devana Ng | Invisible Company
Devana co-founded Invisible Company with her husband after they were disheartened by the amount of trash they saw on Hong Kong's trails. They aimed to create a solution that would preserve nature's beauty, leading to the birth of Invisible in 2020. The #INVISIBLEBAG, which is water-soluble, compostable, landfill biodegradable, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly, is an alternative to traditional plastic packaging.
Devana and the Invisible Team are also working on R&D to develop other sustainable packaging options. Devana is a firm believer in the importance of education in promoting sustainability and actively advocates through various means, such as daily actions, education.
She is a TEDx speaker, went on multiple panel discussions as well as interviews. She is actively creating a community that organizes hike cleanup, interviewing other individuals and brands who share their Eco With Attitude and passion for sustainability.

Cindy S. Chan | Foodisdom
Cindy is first and foremost an individual, then a person who loves movies, and finally the founder of Food Wisdom ('Ruishan' meaning 'wise nourishment'). Having lived in various parts of the world, she has experienced the ups and downs of life, searching both inside and outside, and has finally discovered that the one thing she most wants to do in her life is to do good deeds.
The establishment of Food Wisdom is aimed at providing 'consciousness' nourishment to those who are destined for it, in order to make wise choices for their own health, all animals, and our beloved Earth. Food is of paramount importance to people. Choosing what to eat and how to eat is a significant decision for humanity, and it is not an exaggeration to say so.
