the female self as a case study - online lecture/workshop

​Is the "I" in writing an instrument - a way to examine class, desire, memory, power? Or is it merely content, intimacy shaped for an audience online and sold on the premise of relatability? What if it could be both - or neither?

​A lecture/workshop rooted in the works of Annie Ernaux and Chris Kraus, with the eye on the ever-evolving "personal essay" genre: what confessional really means as a label, and why preserving interiority as a woman writer might sometimes be a more interesting move.

​We dive into it all in the 1.5 hour lecture hosted by me, Valerie Estrina, and finish with two workshop exercises. No writing experience needed.
