Bits in Bio Presents, A Mixer in Miami
This is the first Bits in Bio event in Miami. It's a kickoff for everyone in South Florida working where computation meets biology, and the goal is simple: get the whole scene into one room.
Why La Tropical?
It started in Havana in 1888 and became Cuba's most beloved brewery. Now it's been reborn in Wynwood, with a tropical garden built to recreate the original. A new chapter for an old brewery felt like the right place to start a new chapter for Miami biotech.
No panels. No pitches. No slide decks. Nobody is going to make you stand up and introduce yourself. Grab a cerveza and meet the people building bio in this city.
What to expect
Wear whatever you want. It's Miami in November, so shorts are correct.
Coming alone? Good. Most people are. The organizers will be circulating specifically to introduce people to each other, so find one of us and say so. That is the job.
Drinks are on you. The beer is brewed on site.
This one is for everyone
This includes therapeutics, devices, diagnostics, agriculture, industrial, and software. It includes academic, startup, and big company people, plus anyone still figuring out where they fit. Researchers, clinicians, founders, engineers, students, operators, investors, and people trying to break in are all welcome. UM, FIU, the Miller School, Nova Southeastern, and everyone in between.
