LSE Generate are proud to announce a brand new partnership with BDO. The Scale-Up Leadership Series is a high-impact programme designed for later-stage founders ready to move from growth momentum to sustained scale. Tailored for LSE students and alumni building established ventures, the series combines strategic insight, practical frameworks, and peer-to-peer exchange.
The programme launches with a curated networking reception bringing together founders, BDO advisers, selected investors, and members of the LSE entrepreneurial community. Designed to spark peer learning from day one, the evening will include facilitated introductions and informal discussion around common scaling challenges.
Session three covers "Global Growth - Internationalisation, Risk & Regulatory Complexity". Expanding into new markets introduces operational, tax, regulatory, and cultural challenges. This session equips founders with practical frameworks for cross-border expansion, covering international tax considerations, compliance risk, supply chain strategy, and building local leadership capability. A must for scale-ups preparing to go global.

JULIA MCCULLAGH- Partner, Corporate International Tax Services Lead at BDO
Julia is a corporate tax partner in BDO’s international tax team. She has thirty years’ experience advising international groups on UK and overseas tax matters. Julia is an experienced client tax engagement lead. This comes in part from five years working in industry including as EMEA Tax Director for Kimberly-Clark Corporation. She is known for bringing the best of the BDO network to her clients. Julia leads our International Corporate Tax Services network so has a specialism in the international tax arena with a particular focus on the US. But she also advises across the broad spectrum of tax challenges facing today’s multinational
SURAJ SANDHU- Associate Director, BS&O at BDO
Suraj is an Associate Director within BDO’s London Business Services and Outsourcing team, with over 13 years’ experience supporting scale-ups, technology-led businesses and US‑headquartered organisations. She specialises in building and evolving finance functions that support growth, using cloud-based solutions to deliver timely, accurate and actionable management information. Known for her collaborative and relationship-led approach, Suraj provides tailored support aligned to each client’s stage of growth. She also chairs BDO’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications Future Leaders group. Suraj is an LSE alumna, having read Law at the University.
