The Bring Your Own... Meetup
A meetup for engineers, founders, and anyone building real systems on top of S3.
We’re bringing together folks from Tigris, Nuon, and SlateDB to dig into how S3 (and the S3 API) has basically become the backbone for modern cloud architecture.
Come hang out with the local distributed storage community. We'll have pizza, drinks, and plenty of time to discuss current projects and challenges.
Talk Lineup
Himank Chaudhary (Tigris)
Himank will discuss the S3 API as a standard for interoperation across clouds at the storage layer, and how API standardization enables portability. He’ll highlight “nomadic compute” as a design principle and the path to full portability. Check out Tigris's blog on Nomadic Compute: Enabling extreme portability across clouds.
Jon Morehouse (Nuon)
Jon will talk about why S3 is the backbone of BYOC infrastructure, and how Tigris, the S3 protocol, and new features enable new ways to build BYOC applications. Check out his recent blog about blob storage.
Almog Garva (SlateDB)
Almog will dive into SlateDB, an object-native LSM tree, and how it supports BYOC systems on Object Storage. The talk explores using S3 as a source-of-truth for databases and the internals of SlateDB that make it possible.
