THE FIVE WEEKS
Week 1 | Getting to know the wheel
We'll start with the basics of working on the pottery wheel, including preparing and handling clay, wedging, centering, opening and pulling walls.
You'll learn how to create simple forms such as cylinders and bowls while getting comfortable with the relationship between your body, the clay and the wheel.
Week 2 | Trimming, carving & attachments
We'll learn how to trim your pieces and give them shape and definition, as well as exploring handles and other decorative or functional attachments.
We'll also introduce carving techniques and continue working on the wheel, so you'll be making new pieces while refining the ones you've already created.
Week 3 | Sanding & getting into glaze
By this point, some of your pieces will have been bisque fired and ready for their next stage.
We'll learn how to sand and refine your work before getting into glazing. You'll start exploring different colours, combinations and application techniques, while continuing to make on the wheel.
Week 4 | Glazing & experimenting
This session is all about exploring glaze.
You'll experiment with colours, combinations, application techniques and different finishes, with guidance on how your choices will transform once your pieces go through the kiln.
You'll start developing your own preferences and style.
Week 5 | Finishing, celebrating & what's next
We'll bring everything together, finishing and glazing your remaining pieces and taking some time to celebrate what you've made.
Expect music, drinks, snacks and a slightly more social session as we look back at your five weeks of clay.
You'll leave with finished pieces, new skills, new creative friends and hopefully the desire to keep making.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
CLAY 101 is designed for people who are completely new to ceramics, but it's also a great fit if you've had a little experience and want to properly ground yourself in the basics.
You don't need to consider yourself "artistic". You don't need to know what you're doing. You just need to be curious and willing to get your hands dirty.

Semana 2 | Retorneado, tallado y accesorios
Semana 5 | Terminamos, celebramos y seguimos creando
No necesitas saber qué estás haciendo.
