Social Services & AI Hackathon
Social services in Victoria are evolving fast. Recovery housing is expanding, new programs are launching, and frontline teams are doing incredible work. But the tech side hasn't kept up.
BuildersVault's third hackathon: Social Services & AI starts April 20 at Frontier Labs.
Two Challenge Tracks
Track 1: TBA
Track 2: TBA
How It Works
Monday, April 20: Kickoff Night
Opening talks and research briefing at Frontier Labs.
Tuesday to Thursday: Research/Build
Teams work independently. Talk to frontline workers. Understand the problem before writing a line of code.
Friday, April 25: Demo and Awards Day
Submissions due 10am. We reconvine at 6:30pm for live demos, judging, and awards at a TBA venue.
Prizes
$1,000 total ($500 per track winner), funded by Xenex Consulting. Every team receives a published use case on buildersvault.ai, org introductions, and access to the BuildersVault builder network.
Who Should Come
Engineers, data scientists, UVic MSW students, and designers. Cross-disciplinary teams (engineer + social worker) consistently produce the strongest outcomes.
Our first two hackathons produced 50+ live projects, active research grants, and real product development with partner organizations. The solutions built here don't stay on a shelf.
Tickets are $15 for students.
