Snap: Live Build From Sample to Spatial Reality
See what it actually looks like to build for Spectacles. In this live technical walkthrough, we’ll build a functional AR experience step by step, showing the real development flow from start to finish. We’ll begin with a sample project, then progressively enable and wire up key features, demonstrating how experiences are actually built for Spectacles.
You’ll see how to place virtual objects in the real world, make them respond to hand interactions, and persist naturally in space. Along the way, we’ll explain the “why” behind each step so you can confidently apply the same patterns in your own projects.
This session will help you understand where to start when the hackathon begins whether that’s by using one of the sample projects shown or applying the same setup patterns to your own idea. You’ll leave with a clear mental model of the Spectacles development flow, helping you avoid common setup pitfalls and save hours once you start building. Questions are welcome throughout the walkthrough, and we’ll reserve dedicated time at the end for live technical Q&A to dive deeper and troubleshoot specific challenges.
Agenda
Live Demo: Building a "Zero-to-One" project (e.g., a spatial object that reacts to hand gestures).
Scripting Basics: How to use TypeScript/JavaScript to add logic to your world.
Debugging: How to test your project using the Spectacles simulator vs. the real device.
Open Q&A: Ask the engineers about limitations, APIs (Bluetooth/WebSockets), and best practices.
