Kıssadan Hisse: A Short Film Screening & Discussion
The ‘Kıssadan Hisse’ event, featuring a short film screening and a discussion, will take place for the first time this month with the theme of ‘hope’. We’ve curated a selection of award-winning productions, inspiring stories and works of art that touch the heart and make us think, “perhaps a better world is possible”. As I select these short films, one thought keeps coming to mind: no matter how complex this world becomes, cinema and face-to-face conversation remain our path back to one another.
The world is heading in a very different direction, that’s true. But we’re sticking to our core values, spending time together in our slippers, over a cup of tea, with real people. We look at one another far more than we look at the screen. The impressions left by art can only be discussed aloud in this way, preferably in one’s mother tongue. That’s why the discussion session takes place in three languages. When the film ends, whilst the room is still in darkness, what is going through our minds and hearts? A special selection of films curated around a specific theme is organised alongside a sharing session where you can put your impressions into words. Hearing one another’s perspectives is the cultural capital, that is the cultural enrichment. Feeling together, discussing together, growing together. We’re gathering at Ara Mekân on 26 September at 6.30 pm. We’ll watch, we’ll talk, we’ll share our impressions, we’ll let art touch our souls, and when it touches us deeply, we’ll take another sip of our tea.
