โ€‹๐Ÿค– Robotics Workshop Series: Build & Train a LeKiwi Robot

โ€‹Workshop Series Overview

โ€‹Join us for an exciting multi-week robotics workshop series where you'll learn essential robotics skills and build your very own LeKiwi robot using cutting-edge AI and reinforcement learning techniques! This hands-on series takes you from beginner to builder, covering everything from 3D printing to deploying AI models on physical hardware.

โ€‹The Project: LeKiwi Robot

โ€‹We'll be constructing the LeKiwi robot โ€“ an open-source quadruped robotics platform from Hugging Face designed for learning and experimentation with reinforcement learning.

โ€‹๐Ÿ”— Project Repository: LeKiwi on GitHub
๐Ÿ”— 3D Model Preview: View in Fusion360
๐Ÿ”— Learning Resource: Hugging Face Robotics Course

โ€‹Workshop 1: Introduction and Essential Tools

โ€‹In our first session, we'll go over the cover some fundamental tools and skills you'll need throughout the series:

  • โ€‹Slicing software essentials

  • โ€‹Print preparation for robot parts

โ€‹โšก Microcontroller Basics

  • โ€‹What is a microcontroller and how does it work?

  • โ€‹Overview of common platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32)

  • โ€‹Understanding GPIO pins, sensors, and actuators

  • โ€‹Basic programming concepts for embedded systems

  • โ€‹How microcontrollers control robot movements

โ€‹๐Ÿค– Reinforcement Learning Basics

  • โ€‹What is reinforcement learning?

  • โ€‹How RL models learn through trial and error

  • โ€‹Overview of pre-trained models for robotics

  • โ€‹Introduction to the LeKiwi control system

โ€‹What's Coming Next

โ€‹Future workshops will cover:

  • โ€‹Mechanical assembly and component integration

  • โ€‹Electronics and wiring

  • โ€‹Software deployment and robot control

  • โ€‹Training and fine-tuning RL models

  • โ€‹Testing and optimization

โ€‹Who Should Attend

โ€‹This workshop series is perfect for:

  • โ€‹Students interested in robotics, AI, and making

  • โ€‹Beginners with no prior experience (we start from the basics!)

  • โ€‹Makers looking to combine hardware and machine learning

  • โ€‹Anyone curious about how intelligent robots work
