The world has already crossed 1.5°C of warming and is on track to exceed 2°C well before 2050. The impacts are global, but South Asia offers a stark warning: millions have been displaced by floods this year, while northern India, including Delhi, reached 48°C. Rising temperatures are intensifying the hydrological cycle and pushing the South Asian monsoon further out of balance.
This session will explore what we know—and what remains uncertain—about how Stratospheric Aerosol Injection (SAI) could influence the monsoon, and how its risks compare with those of unchecked warming..
Panelists: Renowned experts in the field from the United States, India, and Bangladesh:
Moderator: Trisha Patel, an SRM researcher based in South Africa.
