MAKESTREAM Day (UPSTATE)
SOLA Market is building a solidarity economy and circularity in the spirit of art's ability to preserve culture, sustain ourselves, and provide new paths for skill and innovation. We bring you MAKESTREAM, an art market built for the global majority by the global majority, starting with two dedicated MAKESTREAM days across New York State this summer. This Black August join us for MAKESTREAM Day UPSTATE in partnership with Upstate of Color!
Central to Makestream is the opportunity for artists and attendees to buy, sell, trade, and barter for art materials, gear, and equipment with a focus on what drives craft and creative innovation. We welcome vendors to sell finished art, offer micro workshops in the spirit of creative reuse, and contribute activations or demonstrations that explore creative curiosity and multi-disciplinary emergence. We ask for a flat $45 Vendor fee to vend as an individual and $75 as an organization.
We invite all attendees to bring pre-loved art, materials, gear, and equipment for a Makestream Creative Reuse cafe starting at 1 p.m. with complimentary coffee, cocktails, and mocktails while supplies last. Meet new artists and chat material, process, creative tips, while putting your bartering skills to use by finding the perfect trade, swap, and deal on art materials, gear, and equipment.
If you are hoping to vend during a MAKESTREAM Day, please fill out this form, and we will follow up shortly. Space is limited, and vending is open to all with priority to members of the Global Majority (Black, Latine, AAPI, SWANA, Indigenous):
