Webinar: Are you ready to report soil carbon removals under LSRS and SBTi?
If your company plans to report soil carbon removals in its Scope 3 inventory to help meet an SBTi FLAG target, a removal factor on its own is not enough. The quantification behind it, traceability, monitoring and your accounting approach all need to meet the requirements of the GHG Protocol Land Sector and Removals Standard (LSRS). The standard takes effect on 1 January 2027.
We’ll run a live gap assessment on a representative company
Perennial’s JD Carluccio and Pablo Ayala Espinoza will take the soil carbon removals accounting of a representative company and run a gap assessment on it, step by step, the same way we run it with food and agriculture companies. The example is built for teaching purposes. It is not an assessment of a real company. We’ll check:
Spatial boundaries and traceability through the supply chain
Required carbon pools and net carbon stock change
Empirical data and uncertainty, including model calibration (there are several valid approaches, and digital soil mapping is one option, not a requirement)
Allocation across supply chain actors and double counting controls, and how inventory accounting differs from GHG credit claims
Ongoing monitoring and reversal reporting
You’ll leave knowing which gaps matter for your own reporting
Not every gap has the same impact. Some can prevent removals from being reported, while others affect eligibility, the calculation, assurance readiness or disclosure. By the end, you’ll know how to tell them apart, what data helps close them, and how to plan your next reporting cycle. We’ll also explain how to book a gap assessment for your own company.
