Lunch & Learn: How to Get Your Project Pitch Invited
Special guest presenter: Dr. Todd Strother, Senior Technology Consultant at the Center for Technology Commercialization, Universities of Wisconsin
You know the NSF SBIR program. Now, how do you write a Project Pitch that earns an invitation to submit a full proposal?
Join us for a practical Lunch & Learn focused on what to include, what to avoid and how to make a clear case for your innovation. We’ll begin with 30 minutes of instruction, followed by a live review of volunteer Project Pitches. See what works, where pitches fall short and how to strengthen your own submission.
We’ll cover how to:
Explain what makes your technology innovative
Define the technical challenges your R&D will address
Connect your innovation to a market opportunity
Present your team’s ability to carry out the work
Avoid common mistakes that weaken a pitch
Who should attend: Researchers, founders and small businesses familiar with NSF SBIR who want to develop a strong Project Pitch and work toward the March 4, 2027 full proposal deadline. Attendance at Part 1 is helpful but not required; basic familiarity with the program is expected.
Have a draft? Volunteer to have your pitch reviewed live, or join us to learn from others’ examples.
