Intro to Suminagashi (Japanese Paper Marbling)
Local artist Fan Kong will introduce beginners (adults and youth ages 12+) to the oldest form of marbling called suminagashi ("floating ink").
This meditative practice involves printing patterns on paper by floating colors on the surface of water. Participants will learn to create and experiment with this technique within small groups, and take home individual and/or collaborative prints. Along the way, we will reflect on creative problem solving and challenge traditional thinking processes.
