SEDA • Opening Night: Iranian Women Voices

​SEDA (صدا) means voice in Persian, and that's really the whole idea behind this. In Iran women still aren't allowed to sing solo in public, and Parastoo Ahmadi found that out the hard way when she performed anyway. Her case is what set this series in motion.

​So this is our answer to it — one night in Inglewood where Iranian women get a stage and actually use it. Sing, laugh, dance. That's the night. No speeches, no politics, no agenda beyond giving these voices a room.

A little marketplace of Iranian women makers and small businesses — jewelry, art, ceramics, sweets. Come early for it, it's worth the extra time.
