Between Two Worlds: Navigating Expectations with Strength and Clarity
Belonging is a basic human need — but for those living in diaspora, belonging often feels scattered or conditional. Many Overseas Vietnamese experience the “inbetween,” navigating identity tensions, cultural expectations, racism, and intersectional identities. This session uses research from social identity theory, diaspora psychology, and resilience studies to guide participants in exploring where belonging shows up — and where it does not. Through story circles and reflective mapping, participants identify the spaces that nourish authenticity and connection, and create a personalized ecosystem of belonging for their next chapter.
