The One About AI x Healthcare (Round IV)
More information coming soon, keep a lookout! 👀
From medical imaging to clinical dialogue systems, AI is entering real healthcare environments. In this edition of AI Wednesdays, explore what it takes to move clinical AI from research into real-world practice, and how it is reshaping the delivery of care.
More About the Sharings
Dr Fong Qi Wei (Family Physician, NHGP) will share on “Insights from PRIME CXR: Clinical AI in Practice”
As AI models for medical imaging mature, what does it take to move from proof of concept to everyday clinical use? Explore how PRIME CXR, a commercial chest X-ray AI solution, was implemented across primary care and radiologist settings. From pre-deployment planning and workflow integration to post-deployment adoption, hear the realities of integrating AI into live healthcare environments. Discover the operational, clinical, and human considerations behind bringing medical AI into routine patient care. (Technical Level: 100)
Zhou Yang (Senior Scientist, A*STAR IHPC) will share on “Note2Chat: Improving LLMs for Multi-Turn Clinical History Taking Using Medical Notes”.
Accurate multi-turn clinical dialogue is critical for effective patient history-taking, but real-world conversational data is scarce. Hear more about Note2Chat, which addresses this by converting clinical notes into high-quality doctor–patient dialogues and training AI models through a three-stage process combining supervised learning, simulated data augmentation, and preference-based fine-tuning. Explore how this approach enables more interpretable and sample-efficient clinical reasoning, improving diagnostic accuracy while maintaining adaptability across different clinical scenarios. (Technical Level: 200 -300)

More About the Speakers
Dr Fong Qi Wei is a Family Physician at Geylang Polyclinic, NHGP, with a strong interest in the intersection of healthcare and technology. Since completing the AI for Industry programme by AI Singapore and NUS in 2019, he has applied machine learning to real-world clinical challenges, including co-developing a medication packaging recognition system and supporting the evaluation and implementation of PRIME CXR to optimise chest X-ray workflows. He is also an Epic Physician Builder and IT lead at Geylang Polyclinic, giving him firsthand experience in integrating technology into everyday clinical practice.
Zhou Yang is a Senior Scientist at the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), A*STAR. His research focuses on understanding machine and human intelligence, with applications across natural language processing, computer vision, and healthcare AI. He previously served as a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore and obtained his PhD in Computer Science from Hong Kong Baptist University. His work explores how machine learning methods can be designed to be more robust, interpretable, and effective in real-world settings.
