About Event

Across the world, the populist right is shaping the political agenda, harnessing economic anxiety, cultural dislocation, and anti-elite sentiment to shift the boundaries of mainstream debate. Meanwhile, the progressive left struggles to articulate a compelling alternative to their narrative.

In partnership with the Conduit Club, we are delighted to be joined by Professor Lea Ypi, Ralph Miliband chair in politics and philosophy at the London School of Economics, Dr Parth Patel, associate director for democracy and politics at IPPR, and Tom McTague, editor in chief of the New Statesman to explore how to rekindle a progressive politics capable of inspiring people, winning power and shaping the future, to both counter resurgent populism and build a fairer, more democratic society.
