THE MANJI GATHERINGS: Common threads

​Join us this International Women's Day for an honest and uplifting gathering of women. Together, we'll explore the threads that connect us across generations – from first periods and friendships to self-care, personal growth and menopause.

​Through creative play, we'll celebrate the strength and knowledge of women by sharing stories, experiences and reflections shaped across a lifetime.

​In a world that can often feel divisive and isolating, this gathering creates space to discover what becomes possible when women's voices are shared, heard and brought together.

​Part of the gathering will take place on a Manji, a traditional woven daybed that is a place for rest, reflection and collective care. We will begin and end with Simran, a practice of stillness and deep listening, to create space for presence and authentic connection.

​This gathering is part of a series that began at without SHAPE without FORM in Slough and now continues at the Whitworth in Manchester. It invites honest exchange about what’s working, and what isn’t, within ourselves and the systems we inhabit. Each gathering takes place around Roo Dhissou’s Manji (A String of Love, 2025), currently featured in REFLECTIONS – SANGAT AND THE SELF at the Whitworth, offering a space for fellowship, shared progress and collective care.
