Mindjoy AI Educator Programme, Week 3: Assessment and Feedback
Over four weeks you will join a small cohort of educators working out how AI actually fits into teaching. Each week pairs a 60 minute live session with something you take straight into your classroom, so by the end you have built things your students have really used, and you have the evidence of what happened.
Sessions run weekly on Wednesdays, 26 August and 2, 9 and 16 September, 17:00 to 18:00 SAST. Please register for all four.
Theme: reimagining how we assess learning
We start with how your pathways went, then look at what assessment is actually for, as learning, for learning and of learning, and what changes now that feedback can be personal and immediate at any scale. You will build an assessment that marks itself and gives feedback in your own words, and we will get into how to write a mark scheme that produces feedback worth reading.
In this session, you will discuss the functions of assessment and where AI makes each one more effective, create an assessment that uses auto-marking and personalised feedback for real skill building, and learn how to tweak mark schemes for nuanced, subject-specific feedback.
Before the session, plan your assessment using the workbook and bring a past paper or assessment as a PDF. If your mark scheme is a separate file, merge it into the same PDF first.
After the session, run it with your class and read the insights. Then try going to one student with feedback based on what you saw. Educators keep telling us students are genuinely delighted that their teacher noticed.
