The browser wars are back. But this time nobody’s fighting over rendering engines.
Google is shipping Gemini into Chrome. OpenAI built an entire browser around ChatGPT. Perplexity wants to replace the search bar. Arc bet on AI doing the browsing for you. And Strawberry — a Stockholm startup backed by General Catalyst — is building what they call a “self-driving browser.” Agents that live inside your tabs, clicking, scrolling, filling forms, executing multi-step workflows while you do something else.
The question isn’t whether your browser gets an agent layer. It’s who controls it — and what you can build on top of it.
Strawberry is joining us for this one. Their browser is in open beta. We’re going to break it open, build companions, chain workflows, and stress-test what “self-driving” actually means when you point it at real tasks.
