About Event

Spend an evening celebrating local storytelling with Video Consortium’s Little Rock Hub, hosted in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Join us on November 18 at 7 p.m. in the EIT Auditorium on UA Little Rock’s campus for a screening of four nonfiction projects by local filmmakers and journalists whose work earned nominations and wins at the recent Mid-America Emmy Awards.

After the screening, stay for a mixer and refreshments – a chance to meet the storytellers behind the projects, exchange ideas, and connect with Little Rock’s filmmaking and journalism community.

Other address instructions: It’s near West 30th Street and Campus Drive West on campus. Here is the campus map.

Parking details: Everyone can park in Lot 8 for the event and overflow can park across the street, by Jack Stephens Lot 13.

Featured Guests & Projects

  • “Faux Ball - The Legend of Village Academy” — Eric White, Arkansas TV

    • About: Two high school instructors pull one of the greatest pranks in Arkansas history. Garry Crowder and Bob Sivlis with Jessieville High School grew frustrated with the newspaper coverage of small sports programs and decided to take matters into their own hands. One Friday night, they called in a fake score for a nonexistent team, and surprisingly, it made the paper the next day, with no one the wiser. What started as a one-off joke grew and grew, developing a cult following and spreading throughout the state.

  • “Arkansas Amplified: The Legacy of Black Music” — Jurnee Taylor and Keshawn Moore, THV11

    • About: Four-part THV11 documentary series that chronicles the profound and often under-recognized impact Black Arkansans have had on every major genre of American music. Moving from historic Little Rock neighborhoods to the blues-steeped highways of the Delta, the series connects the historical roots of the past with the vibrant, genre-bending sounds of contemporary global stages. Through deeply personal interviews with local icons, educators, and music historians, Arkansas Amplified celebrates the voices, venues, and victories that have shaped the state's cultural identity and continue to inspire the next generation of musical pioneers.

  • “Swinging for the Fences” — Terrell Case, Arkansas TV

    • About: High school sophomore Dallas Cathey has always been one to meet and exceed any challenge he encounters. That’s why no one at home or at the Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind was surprised when he became a color commentator for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Trojans alongside play-by-play announcer Max Coltrane, even though Dallas is completely blind. Learn how Dallas uses braille sheets, his impressive stats knowledge and listening to the sounds of the game to swing for the fences in this Arkansas TV Sports feature.

  • “Taylen Green: Next Level” — Sawyer Radler, Hogs+

    • About: Three-part Hogs+ series that takes viewers behind the scenes with Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green as he prepares for his final collegiate season and pursues his NFL aspirations. The series offers an inside look at his preparation for the next chapter of his football career.
