About Event

🚨 2020 saw unprecedented protest activity—but law enforcement responded very differently across movements. Why?

Join us at the Faight Collective for a lecture with Iman Said, sociologist and criminologist whose research uncovers the forces shaping law enforcement decisions. Drawing on quantitative and qualitative data from over 20,000 protest events, Iman reveals why police interactions with Black Lives Matter, Stop-the-Steal, and anti-COVID-19 lockdown protests varied so sharply. She shows how protester behavior, policing norms, and perceptions of threat combined to produce dramatically different outcomes on the ground.

The result? A deeper understanding of what drives police behavior and the social dynamics that shape public safety. In this lecture, Iman unpacks these patterns and their implications for the future of policing in the U.S. 🚔✨
