Turning Federal Data Into Action – A conversation with Denice Ross
Join us for a conversation with Denice Ross from the Federation of American Scientists about what happens when the tools that help turn data into action disappear, and why some of them may thrive better outside of government.
We’ll explore two threads:
Tools, policy, and longevity: How many public-facing data tools reflect the priorities of the administration that created them – and what it means when those tools sunset.
Protecting the data backbone: Why keeping federal data flowing is essential, and how being explicit about tools being “powered by federal data” can help safeguard the core datasets we often take for granted.
We’ll also talk about what a healthier ecosystem could look like: one where federal data remains stable and accessible, and external innovation continues to build durable, community-driven tools on top of it.
