From Lab to First Plant: Closing the FOAK Gap
Moving from a proven technology to a first commercial-scale deployment is one of climate tech’s hardest transitions.
The workshop is designed for startups approaching, planning, or actively raising capital for a first commercial-scale deployment—whether a first plant, production line, or paid demonstration. It is intended for companies whose technology is proven or nearly proven and whose next challenge is financing and executing a capital-intensive FOAK project.
This half-day workshop will combine insights, real-world experience, and hands-on work.
The agenda will include:
A presentation of key findings from our research on the barriers climate technologies face on the road to commercialization and might oversea.
A case study discussion with KPMG exploring a climate tech company’s scale-up journey, including the obstacles, mistakes, and strategies that shaped its progress.
A tailored, hands-on workshop in which each startup will map its own scale-up challenges, examine hidden assumptions and risks, and identify potential barriers to its first-of-a-kind deployment.
Group reflection and an opportunity to share insights with participating startups and mentors.
