Water & Innovations in Sustainable Cities, Green Buildings, Workforce & Economic Development
During this session, you will hear speaker panels and lightning sessions/innovation pitches Water and Industrial Sector Leaders and experts on Sustainable Cities, Green Buildings, Workforce and Economic Development on how to take an integrated approach to management and protection of water and other resources - under changing climates (physical/hydrological and political) while also integrating economic development, including changing uses of water such as the addition of new industries (e.g. data center cooling water needs and water for nuclear power plants planned to provide energy to data centers), and the need for an integration of innovative solutions (includes Innovation Pitches!).
This program is hosted by Denton's law firm's "Smart Cities and Connected Communities Think Tank" which runs very thoughtful virtual roundtables on critical issues. As "Anchor Institutions" for Smart, Sustainable Cities and Connected Communities, Water and Wastewater Utilities often incorporate the needs of other city services and priorities into their projects, such as incorporating green spaces or job training prorams or cultural and educational centers into water infrastructure programs, or providing career opportunities for new veterans or those returning to society after serving time. While sometimes portrayed as impediments to economic development, municipal water agencies typically work closely with new offices and industries to ensure that they can provide water and protect water supplies and watersheds while also supporting economic development and jobs they provide.
