General O'Brien is an NACD Directorship Certified® member and holds the Private Directors Association Certificate in Private Company Governance, and Digital Director Network Qualified Technology Expert certification, demonstrating boardroom-ready expertise in corporate governance, cyber security, digital strategy, and private company oversight.
She earned a Master of Arts, Organizational Management from The George Washington University, a Master of Strategic Studies from the Air War College in Montgomery, AL, and a BS in Chemistry from the U.S. Air Force Academy.
In their free time, she and her husband, BrigGen (Ret.) John Simmons, USMC, enjoy spending time with their six adult children, six grandchildren, and two spoiled Golden retrievers
