동남아에서는 이미 벌어지고 있는 일입니다. 모르는 번호로 전화가 오고, 몇 초만 통화가 이어지면 그 목소리가 복제됩니다. 며칠 뒤 같은 목소리로 가족에게 전화가 갑니다.
그러면 다음 질문이 달라집니다. 전화를 건 사람이 정말 내가 아는 그 사람이 맞는가. 목소리를 듣는 것만으로는 더 이상 확인이 되지 않습니다. 통화 상대의 신원을 기술로 확인해줘야 하는 시대가 왔고, 동남아에서는 이미 그 작업이 진행 중입니다. 한국에도 곧 도착할 문제입니다.
Level Five Group은 싱가포르에 본사를 두고 ASEAN과 호주, 일본, 중국에서 은행과 이커머스, 통신사의 사기 탐지와 사이버보안을 다루는 회사입니다. AI와 행동 생체인식으로 스캠과 피싱, 계정 탈취, 결제 사기를 잡아내는 것이 이들의 일입니다. 지금은 한국 시장을 보고 있고, 그룹 CEO Frederick Chung 님이 그 일로 이번 주 서울에 와 있습니다.
같은 질문이 반대편에서도 생깁니다. 우리가 AI 에이전트에게 계정과 권한을 넘기기 시작했기 때문입니다. 사람을 흉내 내는 AI를 막는 일과, 사람을 대신하는 AI에게 권한을 주는 일은 같은 문제의 양면입니다.
시작은 우연이었습니다. 지난 Bloom 행사에 한국의 AI 커뮤니티가 궁금해서 들르셨고, 그때 나눈 짧은 대화가 이 자리로 이어졌습니다. 며칠 되지 않는 방한 일정 중 하루 저녁을 내주셨습니다.

A Few Seconds on the Phone Is Enough to Clone a Voice
It is already happening across Southeast Asia. A call comes in from a number you do not know, and a few seconds of talking is enough to clone the voice. Days later that same voice calls your family.
Which changes the question. Is the person calling actually the person you know? Hearing the voice no longer settles it. Verifying who is on the other end of a call has become a technical problem, and in Southeast Asia that work is already underway. Korea is next in line for it.
Level Five Group is a Singapore-based firm working with banks, ecommerce platforms and telcos across ASEAN, Australia, Japan and China on fraud detection and cybersecurity. Catching scams, phishing, account takeover and payment fraud with AI and behavioural biometrics is what they do. Korea is the market they are looking at now, and Group CEO Frederick Chung is in Seoul this week for it.
The same question shows up from the other side, because we have started handing accounts and permissions to AI agents. Stopping an AI that imitates a person and granting authority to an AI that acts for a person are two faces of the same problem.
It started by chance. He dropped into a Bloom event out of curiosity about Korea's AI community, and a short conversation there turned into this evening.
