ART VOICES | What Remains When Nature Takes Over?

Season 2 Finale

What Remains When Nature Takes Over?

ART VOICES | Episode 20 · Season Two Finale

What happens to a place after people leave it behind? And how can photography and digital art reshape the way we remember, preserve, and imagine its future?

For the Season Two finale of ART VOICES, we welcome Ryan Koopmans, a lens-based artist whose practice explores architecture, nature, memory, and the passage of time.

Working across photography, moving image, and digital intervention, Koopmans examines how the built environment changes through abandonment and transformation.

His ongoing collaboration with digital artist Alice Wexell, The Wild Within, reimagines abandoned architectural spaces through vegetation, light, and movement, blurring the boundaries between documentation and imagination.

The conversation moves beyond individual works to consider larger questions of artistic interpretation, preservation, technology, and the evolving relationship between natural and constructed environments.
