Jan Plešek - Behind the Curtain: Building an AR Puppet Show for Apple Vision Pro
How do you perform a sock puppet show for an audience on the other side of the world?
This talk explores the development of an AR puppet show built for Apple Vision Pro. Jan walks through the design process, from the original concept to the decisions that shaped the final show.
The session covers how to prototype and test hand tracking in the visionOS simulator without a headset, the pipeline for turning hand-colored puppet drawings into textured 3D models, and the particle effects that bring the stage to life. Along the way, Jan shares the challenges, troubleshooting and techniques that went into making the show work.
