Founder vs Founding Engineer
QLD students... stuck on whether to work in startups?
Startups are an underrated and unnoticed path to success, and are becoming increasingly so for technical students with ambition and rapid learning.
Yet the concept is still foreign in Australian universities, including UQ, despite the incredible technical ability of many.
For some people, that means starting something themselves. For others, it means joining very early as a founding engineer and helping build a company from the ground.
This event will have someone repping either side:
Founder: Alex Ghiculescu, who co-founded Tanda 14 yrs ago whilst on campus as CTO
Founding Engineer: Mitchell Johnson from AutoRFP.ai, who previously worked at Canva and a YC startup
They will give insight as to how to figure out which path is for you, what the first steps are, and why it’s never been a better time to chase the startup path.
At it’s core, the event is about showing that creating or joining a fast-growing startup from an early stage is one of the best opportunities as a student or recent graduate: you get the steepest learning curve, get ownership of building something innovative and of value in the world, and get exposed to asymmetric financial upside through equity - all while being surrounded by the smartest and most ambitious builders.
