Base Show
Base Show features improvised performances. Live theatre created in the moment, without a script.
The work is often comedic, but not always. Rather than polished outcomes, Base Show focuses on presence, risk, and discovery.
Theme
This edition of Base Show will explore themes around relationships and connections; romantic or platonic. Interpretations can be loose, abstract, or playful.
What to Expect
This edition of Base Show features around four improvised performances, each approximately 25 minutes.
Each performance is created on the spot and happens only once.
Expect:
experimental formats
one-off groups of performers
new collaborations
performers trying something different
Each set stands alone, while contributing to a shared afternoon of exploration.
About Base Show
Base Show is part of Base Improv’s broader effort to support the growth of improv in Singapore by creating more opportunities for staged performance.
Proceeds from Base Improv activities go back into sustaining spaces for improvisers to practice, experiment, and share work with an audience.
Producers
Base Show is curated and produced by Jovi Tan and Zhiming Chen.
They have trained and performed internationally across improv and performance disciplines, and through Base Improv, aim to create thoughtful, sustainable platforms for improvisers to grow through both practice and performance.
