Boa Gallery; SLATROP
SLATROP is the inaugural virtual exhibition from BoA Gallery (BoAG), a new exhibition series by Blacks of Are.na exploring Black creativity, memory, and cultural preservation through digital space.
Curated by Makéila NéVette and Cody “Loc” Lockyear, the exhibition draws inspiration from the first of BoA’s 2026 chapter themes, Time, and centers the idea of portals as both artistic and spiritual technology.
SLATROP explores the phenomenon of Black art as a source of reflection: first for the artist, second for the witness. Within this reflection, two portals are formed, one through the ritual of creation and another through the ritual of witnessing. These portals allow individual and collective Black experiences to exist within an infinite continuum where memory, spirituality, transformation, and creative tethering become acts of preservation.
Featuring works across photography, graphic design, painting, music, and digital media, the exhibition highlights Black artists creating on Are.na while exploring the possibilities of virtual curation and community gathering.
The idea for BoAG emerged as a way to make art from the community more accessible beyond boarders and outside of the limitations of typical social media formats.
The full exhibition will become publicly accessible on May 30th, 2026. RSVP here to receive access once the gallery goes live.
