Startup Law 101: Avoiding F*ckups Before They Cost You
One bad agreement can sink a startup faster than a bad pitch.
About the Session
Join us for a no-nonsense masterclass with Indira Hann, Founder of Hann Legal and seasoned General Counsel, where we uncover the legal foundations every startup needs to avoid costly mistakes. Whether you’re forming your company, signing your first contracts, or raising investment, this session is designed to help you understand the risks, protect your ideas, and build a business that’s legally ready to scale.
We’ll cover:
Company formation: Ltd vs LLP, and common mistakes
Founders’ agreements: what needs to be in there and why it matters
IP ownership: how founders accidentally lose control
Basic contracts: NDAs, contractor agreements, and why paper trails are key
GDPR and data handling: what founders need to care about, even early on
Early risk thinking: liabilities founders ignore (e.g. personal guarantees, co-founder exits)
Real-life startup legal horror stories and what to learn from them
Why Attend?
This isn’t theory—it’s the stuff Indira has lived, fixed, and fought over across decades of legal practice. Whether you’re bootstrapping your first idea, raising your first round, or already scaling, you’ll leave with the legal awareness you need to protect your business before mistakes cost you big.
